Organic Farming and Certification

Organic farming means those farming systems which avoids synthetic inputs and manages the system by taking care of the various natural resources to evolve a self sustained ecosystem. It aims to maximize the photosynthetic area of the farm, improve the biodiversity, encouragesthe natural systems that helps to maintain the population of the various inhabitants of the ecosystem. For it, the soil is more important than the crop, the pest – predator relation is more important than pest control, biomass production is more important than the crop production. It aims to convert the farm into a stable natural ecosystem like a rainforest inhabited with various crop species instead of wild ones.

There are different approaches to organic farming

  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Natural Farming
  • Permaculture
  • Biodynamic Farming
  • EM Farming
  • LEISA (Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture)
